I'm always trying to find new and fun things to do in my extra time; or what very little time I have. I used to live in Florida and would also visit Cali a lot in the summertime, so I really got interested in water sports like surfing, skiing, and Parasailing. Recently though I saw something that I didn't even know the name of so I decided to look online and do a little background on it and see if I could find any equipment online. This "new" sport (to me) is power kite surfing!

I bet it's an amazing adrenaline rush of excitement! A power kite or traction kite is a large kite designed to provide significant pull to the user. They come in three main forms: foils, leading edge inflatables and Supporting Leading Edge. There are also rigid-framed kites and soft single skin kites. There are several different control systems used with these kites which have two to five lines and a bar or handles. These literally look like kites in the air or like the sail of a boat. Power kiting can be done on various vehicles or objects such as a kiteboard, 3 wheeled cart, all Terrain Board/Mountainboard/Landboard, and even all-terrain roller skates! I know, amazing right?!?

Then, there was a sub-topic I found called snow kiting, this is done with a snowkite on skis or a snowboard. Anyway, as usual I looked online for products; what are the prices, where can I buy the stuff I need? What WILL I need for something like this? One of the sites I found online is completely dedicated in this sport and they have everything you could need for this. The prices seem pretty fair too compared to all the sites I checked for. Let's take a look at some of these products, so YOU know what you should be looking for!

2009 Scout Traction Kite: The HQ Scout is the ideal kite if you want to enter the world of snowkiting and landboarding. At the same time, it excels as a kiteboarding trainer kite on land. The brand-new X-over safety-bar system offers ultimate safety and a complete new feel of bar flying.

2 Line Trainer Rush 3 (III): The Rush III Trainer is a perfect two line trainer kite for simplicity and budget minded individuals. With its simple construction bridle construction and low aspect ratio, the HQ Rush III is an easy kite to control and comes complete and ready to fly!

How to Kite DVD: Chris Moore has been professionally involved in Kiting since 1991. His passion for kiting has placed him at the top of his profession as an athlete, retailer, and instructor. This video is a cumulative result of his years of teaching kiteboarding to thousands of students. His instructional techniques have become the foundation to create the Professional Air Sports Association (PASA) Kiteboarding Division. Today, PASA, and Chris' instructional exercises defines certification for the kiteboarding industry at the sport participant level and the instructor level.

Mountain Board (Entry): This is the new entry-level kite/freestyle board. If you are looking for a budget mountain board, this is the one to get. It still is packed with features, but at an affordable price. This year, Scrub boards are using a composite wood/epoxy deck, for better flex/pop which makes the Monashee a great choice, when looking for an inexpensive board for kiteboarding. There is a brand new skate truck system, which incorporates a kingpin, which helps to eliminate speed wobble, while not affecting the turning radius of the board.

Now as you can see they not only have the actual equipment you are going to need, but they also have instructional DVDs on how to do this particular sport. They also had other things as well such as; videos throughout the site showing people doing this sport while using the specified equipment. So you might find someone using the 2 Line Trainer Rush 3 (III) on the 2 Line Trainer Rush 3 (III) informational page. Its pretty cool. I am going to buy mine this week and have it sent to my house in FL because I am going to FL next month and REALLY want to try this out. Its safer than jumping out a plane, but its more fun than bungee jumping, or so I hear!
